EDX3200S PLUS XRF oil analyzer
Recently, to restrict the amount of sulfur present in petrochemical products especially oils such as gasoline, diesel and lubricating oil becomes a critical environment protection program in the international society. When too much sulfur is present in the fuels, it reacts with the air dissolved in fuel and reduces its stability. Furthermore, in the burning process of fuels, Sulfur decreases the transformation of the toxic discharges and results in the erosion of the engine's fuel system. In addition, sulfur dioxide (SO2) generated in the burning process poses substantial damage to the natural environment. Therefore, sulfur control in the fuels aroused great concern all over the world.

Sulfur in oil Application Note with XRF Oil Analyzer
This sheet shows that the EDX3200S Plus-a high performance bench top energy dispersive X-ray fluorescence spectrometer-is fully capable of analyzing sulfur in oil from ppm level to percentage. ASTM4294 describe the method to measure the sulfur in oil by EDXRF. This application note demonstrates the way to use EDX3200S according to the ASTM4294.

3. Detection limit without helium purge.
*After Helium purged into the sampling chamber, Detection limit can reach 2.8ppm.
A serial of commercial available oil standards were used to calibrate the EDXRF spectrometer.
Special sample cups are necessary to take the standards and the samples for measurement. See pictures of how to prepare and put the sample for analysis as below:

Based on the test results obtained above, it is proved that the EDX3200S Plus XRF Oil Analyzer is capable of measuring sulfur in oil or fuel samples complying with ASTM 4294. XRF Oil Analyzer EDX3200S plus are also proved to analyze the other elements in the oil and similar matrix sample with highly accuracy and precision.
